F For Farnham (2024)
F for Farnham is a self-guided audio story walk which takes you on a ghostly journey around Surrey’s most haunted town, written/directed by Sophie Austin and produced by Simon Aeppli.
I was the lead sound designer; I recorded and edited the narration, managed a team of sound designers for Series 1, designed the sound for Series 2, and provided the final mix.

collecting pl4ces (2022)
Collecting Pl4ces is a ground-breaking project by the Forward 4 Wiz Trust which celebrates landmarks of cultural heritage in Rushmoor.
Places of local significance are signposted by gathering impulse responses using a short transient sound at each location. These transient recordings together with a freely available convolution reverb plugin will allow professional and aspiring local musicians, to incorporate the acoustic identity of a site into their own creations. The impulse responses are available to anyone worldwide who would like to use them to explore their own musical identity within the virtual space of our local places - you can find more information here.
A compilation album which showcases the space-specific works written and recorded from these acoustic mappings was released on Bandcamp which you can hear here.
I was one of five selected local artists commissioned to write a piece of music which celebrates the unique atmospheres of this local heritage, followed by with a live performance in the space itself. My chosen space was the Dance Studio located inside the West End Centre, Aldershot; the final piece can be heard here.
For this project I created a custom Ableton Live sample-instrument called the ‘Entropy Machine’, which uses recordings of cymbals and gongs to create an ethereal space. Pitch, speed and sample direction can be manipulated with ease, along with the ability to run the sounds through several impulse responses to emphasise the resonances of the space.

Narcissus (2019)
OFFICIAL SELECTION | Chicago International Film Festival (2020)
OFFICIAL SELECTION | London Lift-Off Film Festival (2019)
Director: Phillip Osborne
My Role: Sound Design/Mix
In the absence of exposition, we rely on the the relationship between picture and sound to ferment a response to our characters inner motivations, to synthesise emotional intent.
In Narcissus, a rich library of water sounds was created for the film, recorded using various overhead and underwater microphones. These were then processed and manipulated digitally to highlight the protagonist’s fall into an egotist purgatory. Wretched sounds of glass construct a dense soundscape to compliment Robert Martland’s beat-driven score.

London, 1962. Two strangers strike up a conversation on a park bench about life, sex and the hostile world they find themselves in as gay men. The conversation might be commonplace, but the language isn't, because the two men are speaking in Polari; a form of slang spoken by some gay men used primarily as a coded way for them to discuss their experiences. Shedding light on a little-known and fascinating slice of gay history, this film is a darkly comic exploration of oppression, resilience and gay subculture in 1960s England.
